Where did the last few months go? All of a sudden we are nearing the end of August and entering into my favourite time of year Autumn and Winter.
A couple of nights ago we were blessed with the first full moon of harvest shining bright onto the mountains and trees that surround our home. This always brings me a sense of appreciation for the seasons and a visit to the veg patch tells me that summer has been fairly helpful in getting the pumpkins to grow but also given me enough hot sunny days for the tomatoes too! Apart from less midges what more could you ask for?
This time of year really puts me into a frenzy of preparing for the winter. Less than -15c last year and a threat of the same means I’ve made sure we have plenty of logs for the stove.
I’m also into a preserving mood. With lemon curds and bread and butter pickle on the list alongside brambles and blaeberries to be jammed and rosehip syrup for the inevitable sore throats and colds the kids catch at school. And I have found found the sloe bushes for the gin!
I get a real kick out of feeding my family healthily and using food that nature has in abundance growing wild is an added bonus.
In the shop we have been doing offline testing of a new range of guided meditation cd’s by Robbie Wright – a spiritual healer and a genuine nice guy. Our reviews have been positive and we will be adding them to the website next week.
We spent a day at the highland games in Callander and the weather was fair to us to be honest and right outside there were fire jugglers etc so it was good fun if a wee bit quiet.

Kindred Spirit
Mind Body and Soul Magazine
Well finally the rain has gone and the Sun is back for now! It’s funny how a few days of rain can really drop the spirit. Unless like me your a gardener and, really glad nature is giving you a helping hand so you don’t have to spend ages watering your plants.
Last weekend saw the launch of a new Magical and Spiritual trail in Balquidder (Trossachs). Unfortunately nature wasn’t so kind that day and although warm, the weather was the more typical of the Scottish type… very wet and misty.
We will trek round there in the next few weeks and upload more information on it with pictures on the ‘Trossachs Magick’ page of the website.. We also have copies of the leaflet supporting the trail these can be sent out in an SAE envelope A5 is you don’t want it folded.
This week we are proud to announce that we now stock ‘Kindred Spirit Magazine’.
This is a great magazine as each issue is packed with information and articles on many forms of holistic practices. All without any direction of how we should live our own lives. It’s there to share the experiences of others.
It’s issued every 2 months and costs just £3.60 which is great value. We will also post it out to you free.

Doon Hill 2010
Well Sunday did prove to be scorching in the end. The perfect day to enter the dwelling of the fairies. It is a relatively short walk but is steep and the paths can be narrow. But if you can it is certainly worth the visit.
At the top of Doone Hill the trees open out to create a circle edge and, in the midst of the clearing ,you will find the Scots Pine which is said to hold the spirit of the Rev Robert Kirk whom is noted for his book. The secret Commonwealth of Elves, Faunes and Fairies written in 1691. After parting with his knowledge of the fairies and their dwellings he was taken hostage in the underworld where he remains to this day!

The Ministers Tree, Doone Hill
Today , the Ministers Tree as it became known in the local community is a place to share your wishes. Or to find peace and commune with the fairies, Wishes are left tied to the tree itself and surrounding trees and shrubs. .
It is truly a beautiful gem hidden within fantastic scenery.

As you may or may not have noticed, we’ve been having a bit of a change around here at Dark Moon. We felt that the web shop was becoming too cluttered for what we wanted to do so we created our own portal to make life easier.
The portal will contain links to the shop and other events in Scotland and the rest of the UK. And some other bits and bobs you may find interesting.
If you have anything to list let us know via the contact us page in the shop or in on the portal page.
The Shop is largely still the same but with a few tweaks here and there. We are still refreshing and uploading our stock items over the next week so if you can’t see it it doesn’t mean it’s out of stock just give us a shout to see if we have it.
